The Houston Cosmos User Group

About: the HCUG is an organization based in Houston that operates as an augment to help SolidWorks users get more familiar with FEA.

The Group is supported by SolidWorks Corporation.

The next meeting for the group will be held on March 26 in Houston.

The meeting will commence at 10:30 and will run for approximately 3 hours.

Lunch is included.

Agenda:

  • First presentation will be given by Mr. Dana Parish.
    • Presentation will cover basic cosmos skills and applications.
  • The second presentation will be given by Mr. David Oustifine.
    • Prep models for Cosmos use; basically showing users how SolidWorks tools can be used to prepare the model for efficient cosmos analysis.
  • Third presentation given by UV Doron.
    • Examples of real application in steel fabrication design.
    • Identifying assumptions, understanding FBD.
  • Open Q & A

 

About the Presenters: Dana Parrish has over 8 years of experience in CAD/CAE industry. Currently, he serves as the South Area Manager for COSMOS analysis products at SolidWorks Corporation. Dana joined SolidWorks in 2005 as a Territory Sales Manager for the Southeast region providing pre-sales support to SolidWorks resellers including developing and training resellers on demonstrations, product positioning, and competitive overviews. Prior to that, Dana worked for ANSYS, Inc. as a Sales Executive for the Southeast.  He has also held various sales and technical positions at CoCreate and Unigraphics and got his start as a Systems Engineer for McDonnell Douglas at the Kennedy Space Center. He has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida and an MBA in International Business from Rollins College.  When not making the world safe for Democracy, Dana can be found waterskiing on the many lakes of Central Florida, cheering for the University of Central Florida Knights, or spending quality time with his family.
